Hands-down, the best paid anti-virus (AV) software available. Not necessarily because it catches the most viruses, but because it doesn't get in the way of using a PC. You only need the anti-virus (not Eset's 'Smart Security').

Microsoft Security Essentials

Arguably the best free anti-virus choice. If you're pretty versed in safe surfing and you update all your programs when they request to be updated, this may be all you need for anti-virus protection.

Ccleaner

Does not specifically attack spyware, but cleans up the areas spyware likes to hide.

Malware Bytes

One of the most effective spyware cleanup tools. Finds and eliminates the things that none of the anti-virus tools finds, such as trojans, keyloggers, and rootkits.
